Nothing really good to say about this place. The waitress was quite rude. Didn't want to do anything for me or any of her other customers. I needed to make a change to my order less than a minute after placing it. I apologized to Har and asked if it would be OK. Her response, well I already put the order in. My response, you just did it less than a minute ago. She changed it but when I got home it was not what I ordered. On top of that the appetizer was missing along with the salad that comes with the dinner. Will not be back except to get my credit they owe me. The food we did have was mediocre at best.
We went here after some of the people in our group recommend it. Definitely a locals' place that offers dine in or take out. I was recommended the Philly cheese steak. I heard these were the best, so coming from Philly I had relatively high but skeptical expectations. It was just ok. Others in my group got paninis. They all really enjoyed them. One had prosciutto on it and it came with A LOT. For the price it was a steal. Overall not my favorite, but we all left full and happy.
Three-and-half stars if compared to a real Philly sandwich and pizza, but five stars for the best in the area. Go son, go experience the best the area has to offer. Amen!

Let's put the place into perspective. This is not Philly or other top-shelf place for the best of the best steaks, subs and pizzas. Let's face it, most sandwiches, steaks and pizza at the shore suck. That said, Al's is positively the best the area has to offer. Finally, a local place with quality food at a reasonable price.
My husband had the Italian Sub, and I had a Cheese steak sandwich. Both were fantastic! High quality meats, generous fillings, tasty hoagie roll with just the right chew and sturdy enough to handle the juicy sandwich fillings, and all for a fair price. Staff were friendly and helpful.
